Help homeless families rehouse in a new home: Children 1st has a free store for parent to shop as they are moving their family out of homelessness. We have created a shopping list at Walmart of common bathroom items requested. Go To Link

Mom is trying to maintain her sobriety/recovery, but the environment she lives in is not good for her recovery. Mom feels it’s best she get out of her current apartment complex and get a new place to live that is less triggering to her recovery. Mom needs help with the application fee for her new apartment. The application fee is $65.00. The Section 8 fee is $35.00. With the assistance from Care Portal Mom can begin a new journey with her children and keep them in a safe and healthy environment.

This expecting mom has been through a few difficult relationships, and she had some hard conversations with us about them. She took a brave step and decided to make a safety plan for herself and her unborn child. She has already taken some great steps including getting a job, but she is behind on her car payments. Having a working car in her own name is vital for her, so she would greatly appreciate the support.

This young mom is the primary caretaker for five children, and she recently found out she is pregnant. She has been to several job interviews over the past few months, but she is struggling day-to-day to make ends meet. She has been in touch with many of the agencies in Wichita who are trying to help her with housing, but waitlists are long. She has been staying with family members short-term and living in hotels with her children. Staying in hotels obviously gets very expensive, so she is in need of financial support and mentorship to guide her through a hard time of life.

The Wichita Family-Centered Treatment team at Saint Francis Ministries is hosting a Give Back Day project to help support the Wichita Police Department Homeless Outreach Team (HOT). They are looking for donations of items that would help the homeless population. Donations can include: Food Donations: Nonperishable, easy to open snacks (granola bars, crackers, chips, pretzels, fruit snacks) Beef Jerky, Tuna, cracker combos Vienna Sausages Fruit Cups Nut Packs

Personal Hygiene Items: Bar soap or travel-sized liquid soap, shampoo or shampoo bars, toothbrushes and toothpaste, Q-Tips, Maxi pads, hand wipes, wet wipes, hand sanitizer

Other Items: Socks, Rain ponchos, hand warmers and/or gloves, bath wipes, drink powders or concentrates (coffee, tea, punch), bandages, sunscreen or lotion, lip balm, feminine hygiene products.

This mom is currently using a donut for one of her tires, but she is consistently having struggles with donut. When we asked her, what essential services could help her with transportation issues, she shared that she needs a new tire, her windshield wipers do not work, and her van needs an oil change. She has a 15-year-old son who struggles with severe mental health issues, which is part of the reason she needs reliable transportation to get him to school and other services for him. Request costs include:

• Oil Change
• Windshield wipers
• New tire and installation

A kinship grandma has been working so hard to reunite with her grandson and get him out of foster care. She is working full time but unable to keep up on bills and rent. She is moving out of her town home and into another home. She does not have money to hire anyone to help her move and she could really use help from a group of people with trucks and strong men to help her move. Getting help moving will help her because she is so stressed from financial struggle and trying to get her grandson home that she feels like she's at the end of her rope. She needs help moving so she can get into a cheaper place and get it ready so she can expedite her grandson coming home. I can help in the moving process, but I don't have a truck. I am putting 300$ on here in case that is the best route to go, if someone can donate for a truck for a few hours. Or, if a team has a truck or two and wants to help us that would be great too. Any help is appreciated.

This family is mom and her 9-year-old son who are currently living in a townhome owned by her sister. Mom is currently looking for employment so that she can become more financially stable. Her son struggled with truancy in the past, which resulted in DCF involvement, so she is focused on creating stability and consistency for him moving forward (especially staying in the same school, where he currently has strong support). In order to get him to and from school every day, as well as to be able to search for a job and then get to work, mom needs assistance with fixing her vehicle. She has a 2017 Subaru Impreza that is having transmission issues and is not currently drivable (transmission light is on, shifting hard and smoking). We are requesting help confirming what the issue actually is and assisting with repairs if possible.

A single mom has just been wrongfully terminated from her workplace. She is behind on rent and owes $200 in late fees and february rent will be due next week. The total will be $1300 to get her caught up because the landlord said she has to pay the late fees plus rent or she will be evicted. She is going through a lot of stress right now losing her job and not wanting to get evicted. Getting assistance with rent and late fees will keep her and her children in her home and give her time to find a job without having to also find a shelter to stay in.

Mom is a single mom of a medically fragile one year old. Family is currently living in a hotel, and was approved for rapid re housing. One of the requirements is that mom has no outstanding debts. Mom recently got a job, which pays just enough to keep a roof over their head. Mom's currently bills and outstanding bills she needs to be caught up on before rapid rehousing moves her out of the hotel are: Phone Bill Due 1/23-$105 Evergy Bill-$526.84 Kansas Gas-$69.71 Wichita Water-$1520.00 If this need is met, mom will be able to be rehoused and not have to live with her baby in a hotel.
