I am working with a kinship caregiver who has legal custody of two children and who is also taking care of two other children who are not a blood relative (informal custody, there is no court involvement). Children Services have recently placed a child in the home who is related to some of the children already living in the home. This kinship caregiver does not work to take care of the children, but the kinship caregiver's husband works full time and can generally meet the family's basic needs. However, they need a twin-size bed and mattress for the child who was placed in the home by Children Services. Please consider helping this child get a bed and mattress so he has someplace to rest. Dear community, we are reaching out to support a hardworking single mother of four who has recently lost her full-time job cleaning hotel rooms due to a drop in bookings. She is now only working two days a week and actively looking for more work. Her job search has been especially difficult due to her legal status in this country, but despite the challenges, she remains hopeful. She is not currently receiving food stamps or child support, which has made it even harder to stay afloat.

She is now short on rent for July 1st, especially after falling behind on her electricity bill. Our organization is stepping in to help with groceries, and basic needs — and we are also working to help her find additional resources. We are doing everything we can to help her and her children stay in their apartment and avoid eviction.

If you’re able to support with some of the rent, no matter how small, it would make a real difference for this family during this difficult time. Thank you for your compassion and solidarity.
