The Department is working with a mother and grandmother whose 1-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were recently returned home to their care. The grandmother is in need of financial assistance with a flight to California to attend a funeral for a relative. She does not have the funds for this expense due to recently getting established in new housing prior to the return home of the children. Any assistance with this need for this family who is working hard to keep their children in the home is greatly appreciated!

This is for a young mother with a 7 month old baby. The mother and father are not together due to an incident. The mother and baby only qualified for WIC and CHP+; WIC helps to provide formula for the baby but does not help with diapers. The mother is in need of assistance to purchase diapers. The mother would be grateful for any assistance that is provided.

Two children ages 1 and 2 were placed with a kin-like family during an emergency placement. The family is in an ongoing case that has had financial hardship. The family is in need of a Walmart gift card to offset the cost of the boys need for food, clothing and various daycare expenses.

This kinship family had two teenage boys placed with them on an emergency basis. Through the certification process and getting the non certified payments arranged they had financial struggles due to the increased household size. The family is requesting assistance with their mortgage as they want to continue to be a placement for their grandsons. The total mortgage payment is $1,370. Any help is appreciated!

Hello Careportal! I’m reaching out because there’s a wonderful foster family in our community who could really use some help. They have a tough time getting dinner on the table one night a week due to visitation and therapy schedules for the kids. It’s become a real challenge for them, and they’ve asked if anyone might be able to pitch in. The Department is working with a family with a 1-year-old boy. They are currently in need of financial assistance with car repairs (total cost $532). They are struggling with this expense after the father lost his job when he took too much time off to care for their son while he was sick and could not attend daycare. He has now started a new job, but not yet received his first paycheck. These parents are in compliance with every aspect of their treatment plan, fully unsupervised with their baby, and working hard to keep this child in home and to move their case forward. Assistance with this need so that the family can maintain their stable transportation while these parents catch up financially would be greatly appreciated!

A homeless couple needs assistance with getting cell phones. The father's phone recently stopped working and the mother's phone was stolen from a shelter. Their children, an 8 year old boy and a 1 year old girl, are in kinship care, so they depend on their phones in order to talk to them on a daily basis. It can be difficult at times for them to find a place to charge their phones. This also means that they cannot stay in contact with their caseworker, life skills worker, guardian ad liteum, or attorneys. A walmart giftcard, in the amount of $300, would meet this need. If this need is met, it will ensure consistency in regular communication between parents, their children, and the professionals on the case with the ultimate goal of reunification of the children and parents. Ascent Church is pairing with our Local Missions partner CarePortal to collect school supplies for foster children in our community. We will be collecting NEW backpacks along with any and all basic school supplies. There is no pressure or requirement to buy or fill an entire backpack, feel free to donate what you can!
