Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
This is a mother with current Child Welfare involvement. Mother is currently having out of office visits and one of her children has not started to walk . If mother is blessed with a Stroller it would improve her visits with her children by allowing one child to be safely secured in the Stroller allowing the other child to walk beside her. Thank you for helping to improve the lives of Families.

Help Support a Youth Aging Out
The Non-Minor Dependent resides in Moorpark, CA and is in need of essential toiletries, household items, and basic supplies, including personal care products, kitchenware, cleaning tools, a bus pass, and a grocery card. The youth recently moved into a new apartment due to unexpected issues at a previous placement. She is currently in a transitional apartment and do not have to pay rent. The youth is meeting case plan goals and court orders, is actively looking for a job, and has enrolled in college. She is committed to securing employment and pursuing their education. During my work with the youth, I have identified the following strengths: hardworking, motivated, and caring. Her primary goals are to secure employment so she can afford food and basic necessities for her home. For these reasons, I am advocating for her to have the needs identified above met. The main reason I am requesting that these needs be fulfilled is that the youth is starting with nothing and requires support as she works to establish her living situation. DCFS will continue to link the youth to community services such as food banks, counseling, etc., to ensure stable housing and successful emancipation. For other items needed, I will explore additional DFCS options for funding and in-house donations. This request is being made through Care Portal because, unfortunately, DCFS does not have the resources to provide essential toiletries, household items, and basic supplies.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
The mother is in need of bunk beds and mattresses for her four children. This would require two sets of bunk beds and four mattresses. The room she has is small, so twin-sized mattresses and bunk beds would be needed. The mother has recently moved into her own apartment and has successfully completed her court-ordered services, consistently complying with court orders. We hope to reunite the mother with her four children by her upcoming court date. She is committed to reunification with her children. Throughout my work with the mother, I have observed that she is resilient, nurturing, and hardworking. For this reason, we believe she will continue to do what is necessary to reunite with her children. DCFS will continue to connect the family with community services such as food banks, counseling, etc., to support their reunification or ongoing maintenance.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
The mother is a single mother who has 4 children and one child on the way. The mother's car needs all new tires and the total cost is $1,320.94. The mother does not work and cannot afford the tires. She does not get financial assistance from the fathers. The mother said she receives $1,400 per month in benefits and said it goes toward groceries and rent. The mother is scared to drive the children to and from school as she feels at any moment the tires will go flat and she feels it is a safety issue for her family. This assistance will help reduce the families financial stress and help the mother better protect her children. The children all share a room and have one dresser that has nails sticking out of it. The children often get cut from opening it and the mother cannot afford to buy a new dresser. This would help with the physical safety of the children. Or if cheaper ones can be secured, mother went to the dealer and that was what she was quoted. The size of tires is 245/45R20

Help Preserve a Foster Care Placement
The child is one of our YP youth who has complex needs and requires a lot of support from her caregiver. The approval for dual rate payment has taken four months already to process so we are exploring different ways to help support and maintain this placement. The child is 5’10” and has outgrown her full size bed. She is in need of a queen size bed, mattress, bed sheets, and a dresser for her room. She is turning 18 soon and the caregiver wants to keep her in her own through extended foster care.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
The girls (7 and 3 years old) live with their caregiver and her minor son. There is a serious risk of child abduction and a restraining order was just issued protecting the caregiver from one of the parents. The family needs to increase security at the home (security cameras) and prepare for a possible kidnapping outside the home (apple air tags for the children's clothing/shoes). Granting this request will help ensure the children's safety and restore some measure of peace to the caregiver, who is afraid for the safety of everyone in the home.

Help Reunify a Bio Family
First time parent and Regional Center client who has come across some barriers is in need of a driving course to be able to learn and understand how to safely operate a moving vehicle to transport herself and child to daycare and for her to drive to work. By obtaining the opportunity to learn how to drive it will empower client and move to stability, giving the department positive progress in moving forward with reunification.
