Here is an African-American family with an open family maintenance case with DCFS. Family consists of mother and two children, ages 1 and 2 years old. Family recently secured housing and is in need of a crib, a high chair, a double stroller, and child safe cabinet locks. Family is also in need of a kitchen table with chairs. Providing the family with these vital items increases child safety and protective factors, prevents unnecessary removal of African American children from their parents as well as prevents re-entry into the child welfare system. The family is currently in dire need of gift cards and clothing for the whole family. Father is a single father relying on his sole income to raise all 4 children. The family are in need of gift cards for Lyft or Uber to transport children to and from medical visits, shopping or personal activities. In addition, children are in need of clothing.

Mother, is a single mother of three children and is receiving Family Maintenance services. Mother needs help with paying her phone bill for this month. Her phone bill is due on 2/19/25 and her provider is Cricket Wireless. Her phone bill for this month is $110. Mother is currently unemployed and is financially struggling as a single parent. Mother would appreciate the assistance to pay the phone bill due to the incoming phone calls regarding the children’s medical appointments, mental health appointments, CSW communicating with the family, and other related calls about the children.

Durning home assessment CSW noticed that the home was not furnished and had very minimal household items. Upon speaking with mother, mother admitted to financial burden and currently not being able to provide more for the minors than their immediate needs. Mother is a single parent of three and not receiving any assistance from father(s). Mother is attending school full-time to better herself and seek better employment; however, at the moment, she continues to struggle financially. Mother reported although she provides the minors with their basic needs, the minors have limited belongings. At this time, we would like to ask for assistance in obtaining the following items that will help the mother continue caring for the minors, the minors having a safe furnished home and minors appearing presentable since the minors will not be wearing the same clothing often. Hello, I have a 6th grade student that is not doing well with her school work due to stress from her home situation. This student shared that they do not have food in their home and unable to purchase daily necessities since her mothers work hours have been cut. Student shared that she can't concentrate in class because she's not sleeping well since she doesn't have dinner many times. We would like to support this family with a $350. gift card to Target where they can buy food items and toiletries they are needing at this time. Hello, I am reaching out for help for one of our 12th grade student. The family was impacted by the recent wild fires and left both parent without jobs. Although the mom is doing small house cleaning jobs the income is not enough to support the family of six. The students are missing school because the mom does not have money for gas to drive them to school and is unable to travel to apply for any possible jobs. Students are doing some lessons from home but are falling behind from not attending class in person. The student shared that they do not have enough money to pay for food, phone bills, and need toiletries with there being six members in this family. We would like to provide some assistance for this family while they attempt to get a steady income to provide and support the well-being of these children. Thank you for your support in advance. Hello, I am requesting for support for two of our students that arrived to school completely wet from not having jackets or coats for cold and rainy weather. They commute to school by bus since the family does not have a car. The parent is a single parent and lost her job during the wild fires and is working on getting a new job to provide for the two children. For now they do not have any money to provide the children with jackets, shoes, caps, socks and gloves. Mom is struggling to keep enough food on the table for them and is unable to purchase anything else. We would like to help the well-being of these students by providing $1000. to provide them with jackets, shoes, caps, socks and gloves and other needs. I am requesting financial assistance for a family consisting of 4 adults, 2 of them being seniors. The client lived in the backhouse of the property they own in Pasadena, where they were renting the front house out to tenants. Unfortunately, the backhouse was completely destroyed.The fronthouse suffered substantial damage and is uninhabitable. The client was fortunate enough to get assistance from their insurance company with getting a rental in Downtown LA where they have secured a lease for the next year while they await the rebuilding of their home. The client is the only one working. His wife lost her place of employment due to the fires. The client had to purchase new furniture and household essentials. His inlaws are from Peru but are residents of the United States and will be applying for the disaster relief SNAP/Calfresh assistance. The client was denied assistance from FEMA due to his insurance claim but will be appealing once he gets the proper documentation from his insurance company. The client is also in need of prescription eyeglasses which he lost while having to move from hotels to Airbnb's while being evacuated. Unfortunately, he does not have vision coverage through his insurance. In the meantime, the client and his family could really benefit from financial assistance to help alleviate some of the costs he has already incurred and to help him get his glasses.

Hello, I am asking for help for one of our 7th grade students that arrived to school soaking wet from the rain. She comes to school from across town on the metro bus and does not have a jacket or sweater for cold and rainy weather. Her mom is the sole provider and is unable to buy what this student needs due to not enough income from her part-time job. We would like to help this student with a gift card to Target for $250. so she can get a jacket, sweater, shoes, socks and umbrella. This request is being made on behalf of a 57 y/o single mother to a 16 year old. The client was laid off wrongfully from her job back in 2023 and currently is going to court to fight it, due to this she has not been able to find a job. The client uses Calworks benefits and Cal-Fresh. She is also experiencing issues pertaining to her tenant rights in the apartment building she lives in - like excessive fees and charging her a high amount of water usage on a monthly basis on top of her rent. Due to this increase, she has exhausted her savings and is past due on the electricity bill (about $500) All of these stressors have affected her mental health and also her 15 year old daughter. Despite everything she is going through she sounds very resilient and proactive. Client is applying to jobs and she has been scheduled for job interviews - hoping she gets hired soon. This assistance will benefit the client to help her get back on her feet and alleviate the stress of the pending past due balance on the utility bill. Thank you.
