A teenager is in need of a foster home. A family friend has agreed to be a foster parent to take her into his home so that she doesn't have to be in a facility. In order for this to occur she needs some things.

I'm reaching out on behalf of a devoted aunt who has had custody of her 3-year-old niece and 12-year-old nephew since 2021. She stepped up to care for them with the help of her mother, but sadly, her mother has recently passed away. Now, she’s managing everything on her own without that critical support system. She’s currently facing a serious issue with her home: the air ducts are clogged, which is not only preventing cool air from circulating but also causing damage to her ceiling. With summer temperatures rising, this is a health and safety concern for her and the children — especially the toddler. A repair professional has quoted $350 to fix the air ducts. Unfortunately, she does not have the funds to cover the cost at this time. Any help — financial, referrals to local resources, or sharing this request — would mean the world to her and the kids. A therapeutic foster mom has opened her heart and home to a special needs non-verbal 15-year-old boy. To help continue to care for him, he needs new bedding - including a full mattress, box spring, mattress cover (waterproof), pillows and pillowcases. The bedding he currently has become soiled by him and needs to be replaced. - It would be helpful to the foster parent to have more than one set of bedding as well as more than one mattress cover that is waterproof.

There is a single grandmother of 3. She has taken in the last grandchild from her daughter that was hospitalized due to medical concerns and unable to care for herself. The 5 weeks old she has taken custody of and the family is in need of baby items. Thank you for your help!

The mother is a single mother of three teenage autistic children (17. 15. and 13). She is struggling financially to meet the needs of the family. She has recently obtained housing through a friend and is in need of a stove and refrigerator to help provide basic food needs for the family. Family has no other support or resources. The children are also in need of three dressers.

The mother and father grew up in the foster care system. The mother was to be adopted by her foster mother until she unexpectedly died. The mother and father ended up leaving foster care and moved together and had several children. With no true adult to teach them life skills, the parents have done their best to figure out how to navigate life together. Currently, the family lives in Alabaster and have asked the Department for help to provide their children with new beds so they can sleep comfortably. The 3 children have been sharing a small bunk bed, and the caseworker has noticed that it seems worn and uncomfortable. Due to recent changes in employment, the parents have been working hard to save money, but it is difficult. The beds would provide the children with a safe, warm, comforting place to lay their heads at night. We want nothing more than for these children to remain with their loving parents and break generational cycles of involvement with DHR.

This is a single mom that just got a job. She has two little boys. They are in need of a sofa. The sofa will provide an area for them to sit together and spend some family time together. The sofa will contribute to a sense of home. When this need is met they and others can come together and enjoy being comfortable.

I am reaching out to request assistance in obtaining new twin size mattresses for two foster children in our care. Unfortunately, due to frequent incidents of bedwetting, the current mattresses have developed an unpleasant odor and need thrown away.

We are hoping to ensure a comfortable and healthy sleeping environment for the children. The bed size is twin and one of the children is a female and the other is a male.

The maternal grandmother has custody of her grandson. His father passed and his mother is also experiencing difficulties in her life. The grandmother does have employment but has been off work for some time. She is in need of assistance with clothing and shoes for the minor child. He wears a size 16 in clothing and size 7 in shoes.

Grandfather wants to take care of his grandson the best way that he knows how. The child needs a bed to sleep in to stay in this placement. Helping this grandfather to keep his grandson is the best outcome.

Baby X was born premature with drugs in his system, and he is placed with a family member who is in need of a baby crib.
