CDSS has a case with a single mother of four who is in need of assistance with some furniture. Her apartment has no dining table, no couches, no beds, or any other furnishings.

A single mom with a four-year-old and who is expecting her second baby (delivery will occur on 2/18/25), is in need of a small couch for her apartment. This parent moved into her current housing with very little, and has slowly been purchasing furniture and household items. There are insufficient funds remaining for significant household item expenses after the parent covers her family's basic needs. The request is for a small couch or loveseat, not exceeding approximately 8 feet in length. The parent does not have a style preferences and a gently used couch would suffice if funding is not available to purchase a new couch at a reasonable price. There is currently no comfortable seating in the apartment and a couch will provide a safe space to feed and spend time with her baby and 4-year-old. Thank you for considering this request!

Our agency is working to support a single mother towards reunification with her 5-year-old son. She is also pregnant with a baby girl, due in March 2025. The mother is working diligently to prepare to parent both children within the next few months. This request is for a double stroller or wagon suitable for a 5-year-old child and an infant. This mother does not have regular private transportation and will need a safe and sustainable way to travel with her two young children to bus stops, preschool, grocery stores, and other important destinations. Fulfilling this request will help the mother and family maintain self-sufficiency and safety when they are reunified!

A 4 year old youth, who has autism is in need of a belted booster seat for mealtime. This will assist the child with focusing on meal time and sitting in one space to eat.

Young family of four recently moved to first home and is need of beds for their two children.Both parents work but moving took all their savings and no extra money for furniture. Mother is requesting bunk beds to save space but will also welcome a twin bed or trundle bed.

Young family is expecting a new baby soon and has limited bedroom space. In need of bunk bed and toddler bed for safe sleep. May be used

A Syrian refugee is in need of assistance to get her car insurance balance paid so that she can maintain her car insurance and ability to provide for her children. She is a single mom of two elementary age children and drives Uber to support her children. Over the summer with the UVA students gone, she has gotten behind in some of her bills, including her car insurance. She presently owes $800 for car insurance and because of her past balance due, it was cancelled. She needs to be able to make this payment by September 15. If she cannot drive Uber to support her family, the children's situation will deteriorate rapidly. She also was unable to afford clothing for her children. She has a boy who wears size 8-9 and a girl who wears size 10-12. Additionally, she is in need of a couch. She has overcome significant obstacles in her life over the years and she just needs some support to get through this new one. Thank you for considering!
