Story
Our little girl is four years old and the epitome of a girly-girl. She has lived with her aunt since she was seven months old. Her caregivers are in the processes of adopting her.
If you ask her what her greatest accomplishment is, she will reply, “being able to take swim lessons at the Y.” She has taken weekly swim lessons since September 2024 and in November 2024. She wants to be a mermaid when she grows up because she says she swims like a mermaid. If she sees a body of water she will ask if she can go swimming. However, her love for the water has now become dangerous and unsafe for her. In November 2024, she was diagnosed with non-symptomatic, Tonic-clonic Grand Mal Seizure Disorder. After five seizures, her neurologist advised she not be left alone at any time and advised the family of several changes in the home for safety purposes.
One of those safety measure was to install a fence in the backyard. There is a large retention pond behind the family’s home and the caregivers are fearful that she may access the pond. They are seeking financial assistance to purchase fencing and installation to ensure the child's safety.
