Story
The children have been sheltered, reunified and sheltered again. The caregiver initially moved in a larger home to accommodate the kids. When the children were reunified, she could not afford the large space and moved in with her sister. The children were sheltered again and placed with her. She did not want to chance moving and the children transitioning someplace else. She does not qualify for level 1 licensing due to sleeping arrangements. The space is small, caregiver, 2 girls are sleeping in the living area, boys (including the homeowners' children), are in the second room. The caregiver is trying to manage and keep all the children together. I spoke with the caregiver, and she stated that it saddens her that the girls do not have their own space, but she's in fear of getting something and they are returned. She stated that the children have huge appetites and it's a struggle trying to make sure food is replenished at times. The caregiver did not ask for a blow-up mattress. However, I am requesting help for a full-size blow- up mattress that the girls can utilize and share in the Livingroom. In addition, I'm asking that this family receives gift cards for groceries and supplies and personal items. A relative caregiver funds application was submitted, and she will more than likely get funds starting next month. This request is solely to keep these children together. The living situation isn't ideal for them, but they are with someone they love and trust.
