I am working with a young family who has just given birth to their second child. Mom and baby are healthy but after a home visit with them yesterday, they shared with me that they are in need of a few things as they take care of their newborn. They have requested a couch, as their current one has a broken frame making it difficult to sit on, a baby swing for their newborn son, and a bouncy seat for him as well. I would love to be able to help connect them to these things so please let me know if you are able to help provide anything! Thank you for your desire to help serve the families of Lynchburg!

Single mom with a 7-month-old child was both involved in a domestic violence incident where the mom was assaulted while holding her child. The father of the child broke into the home, dumped 4 of the child's cans of milk into trash and opened and dumped child's food into trash, bleached bedding, furniture, clothing of the mothers. Trashed her home. Mom was able to get home clean however things were destroyed. Mom does not work but does have interviews coming up.

Mom is expecting a baby boy in May. She has no furniture (except for a bed for herself) or any baby necessities. She has very little resources to furnish her place or prepare for baby. All of these items are part of her successfully being able to parent her baby. In addition to these stressors, due to health complications, she will need to deliver at UVA. She is on waiting list for classes at Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center. She is in need of a dresser, kitchen supplies, and baby items. Thank you for any support you can provide to this mother.

a single parent has recently lost her job and has no health insurance. She is applying for Medicaid, but it can take up to 45 days to get approved and she needs her medications well before then. She is applying or jobs but needs her medication now. She is also struggling with her mental health due to her situation of no job, no health insurance, and other personal struggles. She is seeking assistance with funding for a therapist to see until her Medicaid can be approved. She is going through a lot and needs to process what is happening. So, this is for two items funding towards medication and therapy until her Medicaid is hopefully approved.

A 64-year-old grandmother has custody of her grandson and has been homeless for six months. In the last few years, she has lost her home of 30 years, leased a closet room of her sisters home sleeping in an undersized bed, and has lost her place at an assisted living home. She is currently staying with her daughter, and is attempting to find permanent housing in a duplex owned by College Hill Homes. She is in need of clothing for her grandson, and funds to cover her rental deposit and first month of rent (Rent Deposit is $660 + 1st Month of rent is $660)

I am working with a family in need of rent money. They were unable to pay their rent in full this month, as the husband/father had an appointment at UVA, and had to use part of the rent money to make that trip. Please let me know if you are able to help the family with their rent. Thank you

I am requesting a vehicle for a family in our community. Mom is a single mother who works nights. She has four children. She has no vehicle but attempts to do everything needed for her children. Example: If we have a family night at school, she and her kids will walk to school to participate. The walk takes one hour, one way. One of the children attends theraphy for emotional concerns (mom borrows a car) and her elementary school aged son will soon have brain surgery. Mom walks to work and to the grocery store. A car would help tremendously! She is trying but the challenges with no transportation is extremely stressful. Please consider helping.

Mother and father just found out they are expecting a baby and are 27 weeks pregnant with a due date at the end of April. Parents are limited in resources and can use support for a car seat, bedside bassinet or pack-n-play, and other basic baby needs. Mother was unexpectedly hospitalized due to pregnancy complications. Mother is still hoping to carry her baby to full term. Family does not know the gender at this time. Family is open to support and eager to prepare for their bundle of joy!

Mother is a super sweet and kind young lady who is currently 20 weeks pregnant and is expecting a baby boy with a due date of 6/22/2025. Mother is not parenting her first child and is trying very hard to be set up well to parent her second child. Mother is extremely open to any support but is currently seeking a car seat, pack-n-play, diapers and wipes, and 3-6 month old boy clothing. Mother has good support at home but has limited resources at this time. Any help is much appreciated!

LDSS in currently working with a family who recently had a baby at 32 weeks, who was just discharged from the hospital this past Saturday (Now 37 Weeks). They are in need of formula for the baby, as their WIC appointment is not until March. The formula they are in need of is Similac NeoSure for babies born prematurely. This assistance would alleviate the financial burden of formula until they have their WIC appointment.

The family is in need of financial assistance to pay their rent for February. Unfortunately, due to sudden changes in the government the organization that the family was working with is unable to provide funds for immigrants. The father in this family just returned to work in November from a medical procedure that had him unable to work for six months. The father is working hard to provide for his wife and four children. The children range in ages from twelve, nine, four and two years old. He just returned to work, and his place of employment is not giving him the hours he needs to support his family. Their rent is $1,700.00 a month but the landlord has been willing to work with the family and charge them a reduced rate of $1,400.00 per month. If the family can receive rental assistance for two months it would give the family more time to look for a more affordable rental option. They would need $1400.00 by February 5th and $1400.00 by March 5th. Any amount received would help. Thank you for your consideration.
